Prior to serving as DeKalb County Solicitor-General, Donna Coleman-Stribling served the citizens of DeKalb County as the Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney over the Crimes Against Children Unit in the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office where she managed more than 400 cases annually. In this management role, Donna supervised attorneys, investigators and advocates dedicated to the prosecution of child sexual and physical abuse crimes. She led in the development of abuse investigation protocol for DeKalb County and served as a liaison for local law enforcement agencies. Donna is a well-respected prosecutor and served as Chair of the Child Fatality Review Team for DeKalb County as well as Chair of the DeKalb County Child Abuse Protocol Team. She has successfully prosecuted hundreds of felony cases during her prosecutorial career in both DeKalb County and Fulton County.
A well-rounded lawyer, Donna has also practiced in the civil arena. She was a partner at Johnson, Coleman and Stephenson, LLC and a principal in the Coleman Stribling Law Group where she represented clients in a variety of civil and criminal matters around the State of Georgia. During her three years in private practice, Donna honed her management skills supervising personnel matters and budget review. In addition to her extensive trial and management experience, Donna also has substantial training experience. This veteran prosecutor has participated in a variety of seminars ranging from the prosecution of child abuse cases to effective trial techniques where she has presented to lawyers, law enforcement and other professionals. She also has served as an Adjunct Professor at Emory University School of Law and Southern Polytechnic State University where she taught Litigation Techniques and Business Law courses.
Donna has a longstanding commitment to the legal community and to DeKalb County. She is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Committee to Promote Inclusion in the Profession, the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), the DeKalb Lawyers Association and the Lamar Inn of Court. She also is an alumnus of Leadership DeKalb. Donna speaks annually at Teens Talk Back, a program designed to expose high school students to legal professionals, and she has served as a mentor in the Redan High School P.I.L.O.T Program which fosters student and community engagement. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Columbia Drive United Methodist Church where she serves as Young Adult Ministry Chair.
Donna received her undergraduate degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law and was distinguished as Order of the Advocate. This daughter of DeKalb has deep roots in the county she loves having matriculated through the DeKalb County School System ultimately graduating from Southwest DeKalb High School. She is committed to serving the county that has given her so much. She is married to David Stribling and together they have three children: Daphnie, Daniel and Dylan.
