Jobs Not Jail

The Jobs Not Jail Program is an initiative of the Dekalb Office of the Solicitor-General and gives offenders with little to no criminal history, between the ages of 17 and 24, a second chance.  Through the program, defendants complete counselling, education, job training and community service, and have the opportunity to see their criminal case dismissed and expunged.  The goal is to break the cycle of recidivism and help particular individuals complete their education, find jobs, and become assets to the community.  The Solicitor-General’s Office works with a multi-disciplinary team to assess, guide and mentor program participants.  The Team has included DeKalb County Magistrate Court, DeKalb Pre-Trial Services, DeKalb County Office of the Public Defender, DeKalb County Workforce Development, DeKalb Technical College, Atlanta Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, 180RealLife, Edwina Knox-Betty, LCSW, BaSix Knowledge Academy, and Counselling Solutions of Atlanta.
